Administrative Professionals Day April 23

Filed Under (What's New) by admin on 21-04-2008

Hump days are really boring for me at times. I think anyone who works in an office doesn’t really like Wednesdays, except for the times when they get paid on Thursdays–now, that’s fun. Last year on Admin Professionals Day, I thought I was having some sort of a nightmare. I was barely awake and I rushed to order coffee. It wasn’t from the usual deli that I went to–I had to go to Starbucks–which was a bad idea. When your office is located around in Times Square, the lines are really long in the mornings. I was already irritable because each person in front of me seemed to be ordering for their whole office. I mean, all I wanted was a cup of joe, ya know!

I FINALLY got my coffee, not the usual Cafe Latte Grande with 2%, but anything with caffeine would do at that point. I walked into the elevator and no one was there. I was really glad that I was going to have a monopoly on the elevator. The doors were closing and I was holding my breath. All of a sudden, a huge pink furry foot stopped the doors of the elevator. Then a big pink furry hand squeezed the doors open, and in came a big pink furry gorilla head! I seriously thought that I was still asleep dreaming. I took a sip of coffee to wake myself up. The humongous gorilla came in and knocked the coffee on me. “WHAT THA…” I yelled. “I’m sorry man,” a muffled voice came out, all I could tell was that the gorilla was a man. A little ballerina skirt completed the whole get up. He didn’t press any buttons, which surprised me. I wanted to know what was going on. I didn’t want any more surprises.

Sure enough, he was getting off on my floor. He had to go out first, of course–no way was I going to squeeze myself out! When I got out of the elevator, he walked straight to where I was going to go! Then he looked at me as if I was stalking him. Like I had nothing better to do! “You’re on my turf, pal!” I was screaming inside my head. He went straight into my office, and when I entered, the pink gorilla started singing and dancing, wishing Donna’s assistant well on Admin Professionals Day. It was my “Doh!” moment.

Between my slumber and me hurrying to the office I totally forgot about it. “Wow, a pink gorilla!” said the assistant. “I’d prefer the Naked Cowboy, but a pink gorilla will do,” she said smiling. Everyone had fun except me, who was covered in coffee. I had to ask Donna to get me one of the 123Greetings t-shirts we give out as gifts. She said there were some left, so I changed into that. The assistant thanked Donna for the surprise pink invasion. We catered for lunch which was fun and I managed not to spill anything else on me.

LIFE

Life is like a long road on which one has to walk without a halt. One has to be consitantly prepared to face difficulties, acknowledging that sometimes things will be great but at times life will appear dull & gloomy and it will make you fight for your mere survival.
A timid, young wolf-cub entered his cave and was shocked to see his mother struggling fir life and fighting with furious lioness. The wolf-cub looked at blankly at the battle going o n as he has never seen such a fierce fight before and did not know what to do. After sometime already silence spread in the cave. The she-wolf and the lioness both lay dead on the ground.
For two or three days, the cub moaned and groaned on his mother’s body but after that the world seemed to have changed for him. He now had great confidence and boldness he had never felt before. He was not afraid of anything and much of his timidity has vanished, for now he knew the LAW of the WILD.

Digital Videography is the order of the day.

From VCDs to DVDs, digital medium is dominating the landscape.
Even television broadcasts are becoming digital, offering excellent quality in pictures and sounds.
Digital video has been recognized as a medium in multimedia technology - along with texts, audio and animations.
There are many challenges in running video movies within multimedia applications. This chapter and few others that follow will expound this topic at reasonable depths.
It is interesting to think about situations in a multimedia project that demand digital videos.
For example, let us consider “Tourist In India - Interactive Multimedia Guide” CD-ROM. The product features important tourist places all across the country. It will be nice, if we could show some video clippings filmed on specific locations - while talking about that particular tourist destination. This will help the user to visualise things and imagine the look and feel of that particular location.
As a second example, let us look at Microsoft Oceans CD-ROM. It will certainly be a value addition, if we could add a few video cllippings filmed underwater - right inside the oceans. It will nicely supplement the facts and figures we are presenting about oceans.
Now, let us consider a third example - where digital videos are unnecessary.
Tales from Indian Mythology CD-ROM features animated tales for children. The whole CD-ROM, from end to end, is full of digital animations. If we were to feature digital videos in between, it will most certainly interfere with the aura created by fantasy worlds created with the help of 3D and 2D animations. Hence it should be avoided.

Nature … GOD?

Nature is a thing which is very precious.
It cannot be defined in words as whatever we’l say in its praise will fall short of it.
Nature is like God as God has created us and lifted a thing likewise only to look after us. Whatever we see there is something natural. If one starts studying the nature, we’l be totally lost in it & if we’ll describe it in words, all the words of vocabulary will be used but the description will not be a satisfactory one, we can say that nature is a thing which we cannot explain in words.
It is a feeling that can be in the heart of anybody and if it is there, he’ll be vey lucky & will get a peaceful mind.
Nature exists all around us,
Its a beauty given by God to a man on earth. It’s found everywhere on earth, in the chirping of birds, in fountains, in rains, in rivers, flowers, in mountains, villages, and many more. So, we have to maintain the beauty of the Nature which is a gift by God to us.
